>>> Part 2 of 2...
JS> I'll tell you a secret feeling of mine, Troy... Sometimes I lose my
JS> optimism altogether! The grand design of the universe seems to keep
JS> us separated from our sentient neighbors at just the distance required
JS> to prevent communications.
Pessimist! :-}
II> Sorry, Jack, but our current technology _CAN_ communicate over
II> multi-light-year distances! The only problem is how long it takes
II> for light, (or radio waves), to reach the destination.
JS> There has to be a limit, in my opinion.
There are only two limits, which are interdependant: The amount of
energy you can put into the wave, and the sensitivity of the receiving
system. Beyond that, there is _NO_ limit!
JS> So, now we have our UFOs... They must be from another world, because
JS> we don't have anything like them, right?
II> Wrong, though IMO that's the more likely of several theories,
II> especially after talking personally to several contactees/abductees
II> I have known.
JS> Aha! ...But now you are getting away from the factual, probable and
JS> even the willing to accept, and have joined the ranks of the
JS> speculative folks (like me).
Speculate? Yes... Speculating that these people actually saw and
experienced what they believe they saw and experienced, and
speculating that they aren't making the whole thing up. I tend to
discount the latter, partly because so many people who have had no
interest in the subject until they became aware of whatever-it-was
almost all tell virtually the same things, and also because these
were people that I knew well personally, and they are NOT the kind
of people that go around spinning yarns. Also, they do NOT seek
publicity - in fact, they are quite reticent about discussing the
subject until they know they won't be laughed at and are certain that
what is told will be kept in confidence. It's the people like Travis
Walton that I am leery of, not my personal friends, JP, JM and
(another) JP, among others. (The two JPs were brother and sister,
who were raised apart and live some 70 miles apart, and they
independantly verified each other's stories to me.)
JS> Small wonder that skeptics dare ask, "OK, then how did they get here?"
JS> "Um, er, well, you see, it's like this..."
II> Simple. Their technology has discovered things that ours
II> hasn't... yet.
JS> More speculation.
True, but then so is the THEORY that ETs can't POSSIBLY be visiting
us!
JS> The imagination of mankind needs no skimpy boundries like light speed
JS> or worm-holes, or warp-9, or FTL to get from one place to another.
JS> ...But even our own Captain Kirk had enough sense to confine his
JS> travels to just our own Milky Way galaxy.
II> No worm-holes? How about DS-9? :-]
JS> I knew it... You have crossed over the line.
Whaddya mean _ME???_ _YOU_ are the one that brought Capt. Kirk into
this!
II> But then, one is always free to dream! :-}
JS> EARTH TO JACK! ...Ok, already! I'm baaack!
II> Sittin' right here waitin' for ya. :->
II> Catch you later... Keep l00king up!
II> Ivy
JS>
JS> Nice discussion!
Hopefully you learned a bit.
Catch you later... Keep l00king up!
