As a matter of fact, were it not for the pump stations lifting water out
of the river, it'd LOOK like a desert too. Unless some form of
atmosphereic instability tricks the clouds into dumping their moisture
it sometimes doesn't rain this far inland for months. Then a hurricane
comes along and we drown. Hurricane season is why most of us have some
form of HOMEPOWER equipment. (And few windchargers.)
The indiginous inhabitants once called this the Wildhorse Desert. I've
always figured they really meant Wild Horse-desert.
