Yeah, they had a light blue beret (I think) and it was the felt like the ones
we have now (and the old green berets-pre-nylonpancake days). As for too
much variation, the old uniform did have a fair amount, but it allowed for a
bit of change from area to area (makes sense in our country to have berets
for formal occasions, and various others to be more practical in other areas-
ie:the arctic).
Anyway-I still think that the Tilly hat should be allowed as
"semi-official" uniform (at least). They even amalgamated it into the
military's uniform, why not us?
