That's a "MODE Reset" and is used to reset the modem when you've
accidentally
put it into Synchronous mode or, for some other reason, it doesn't respond to
"AT" commands.  STORED PROFILE 0 has the factory defaults written to it and
the modem starts up in Asynchronous "AT" command mode.

But, to perform the *ultimate* RESET type...

AT&F.    not required
    ^
Don't forget that full-stop after the "F", it makes a big difference.
