Normally, you want V.42 (error correction) and V.42bis (compression)
turned on.  I suggest sending these commands manually from the
Terminal Screen.  Press Enter after each commmand:
  AT&F
  AT&W
Then add the command "\N3" to the original {COMMO} init string.
That should set the proper mode for the GVC modem.
