      APPEAL FOR JAILED MUM

A mother sentenced to life imprisonment for killing her two children will
launch a fresh appeal against her conviction later.
Donna Anthony, 31, who claims both children were victims of cot death, was
jailed in 1998 but her original appeal was quashed two years later.


She was found guilty of murdering her 11-month-old daughter Jordan and
four-month-old son Michael.

The case against her relied on evidence from paediatrician Professor Sir Roy
Meadow.

Anthony, of Yeovil, Somerset, always claimed both children were victims of
cot death, but her original appeal in June 2000 was dismissed.

However, last month the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) said it was
sending her case back to the Court of Appeal after considering "new expert
medical evidence".

She is currently at HMP Bronzefield in Ashford, west London.

Her case was one of 28 referred to the CCRC after the quashing of the
conviction of Angela Cannings last January.

Mrs Cannings was cleared on appeal of killing two of her sons,
seven-week-old Jason and 18-week-old Matthew.
