I keep coming across a group of words that never fails to irk me, cuz I
*know* somebody is up to no good!

I refer to the phrase, "First Nations, Inuit, and Metis" when speaking
of persons of such ancestry.

Last time I checked, Inuit, and Metis are already covered in the "First
Nations" collective!  Obviously the Inuit & Metis are striking out on
there own, to seek even MORE goodies from the government than the F.N.
platform is calling for (which already, IMO, is quite high!)

And why do we hear more about Plains Indians and Ontarian Indians out
here on the West Coast than ever I hear of our very own Haida (whom I
did hear about in grade 4!!  (*18* years ago, and never heard a word
about them since!!!)

True, the natives here a couple/few hundred years ago got a raw deal.
But *I* didn't take their stinkin' land!!!  I have NO land, and even if
I did, I would have acquired it via legal, non-oppressive means, and
their taking it from me is no different (except chronistically) than
the Europeans taking the land that was here when they landed.  Whatever
this part of the world was a few hundred years ago, it is CANADA now!!

I'm just getting so jaded with this whole issue, as there has been far
too much hypocrisy and self-servicing on both sides of this issue for so
darned long!!
