Watcom does actually give you the column; or at least, mine does. It does
not, however, display the source line.

OTOH, IBM's compilers all do, if you feed them a command line switch (-z,
from memory) to turn that feature on. It also issues horrifyingly long
multi-line error messages, sometimes complete with reference to the section
on ISO-C which might apply.

I find neither of these features particularly useful when working with the
compiler in 99.9% of ordinary programming and development work.
