thanks for the tips. I do have a used 125mm meade maksutov cassegrain
scope (spotting model not astro model), given as a gift, which I can
cannibalize for parts if anything is useful. The cassegrain mirror is a
slow spherical surface, right? Although smaller in diameter, could I use
that for quick 'spot checks' as the other poster suggested?
