* Problems with an XP PC ... MP> I have a relative that has a PC running Windows XP. Lately, when they try MP> to boot the computer up, it gets to the Windows XP blue logon screen. Any MP> attempt to go further (and, in many cases, even before trying anything MP> else), the computer will suddenly shut down or reboot. MP> It also does this when attempting to boot in "safe mode." MP> I have not seen the computer yet, but they said that a couple of times MP> when MP> it boots up, instead of getting the blue logon screen, they get one that MP> explains that some sort of power "issue" has been detected, and it will MP> give them some options. All options tend to cause an eventual reboot or MP> shut down. I have had the same thing a while ago. Had to put the C: drive into another XP machine and got it check drive with a 'repair' files option ticked. Worked ok in it's old PC. Time to 'Ghost' it to a new drive?? --- Ezycom V2.15g1 01FA025D* Origin: Pilbara Amiga BBS (3:690/734) SEEN-BY: 261/38 633/104 260 267 640/954 690/462 682 734 712/0 313 848 800/432 @PATH: 690/734 633/260 712/848 633/267 |
