I tend to lol silently because that's a great logic. "Linux is unix when you
add on a lot of 'GNU is not unix' tools." If i add 'not unix' tools how can
make that anything unix? ;-)

I tried to do so and started with the FHS. Learning with man and info pages
only is the very hard way because of the missing information to understand the
context. The man pages explain how to use a switch or parameter but they do not
explain why or when this parameter is needed. E.g. if you don't know about
tcp/ip concepts then you don't understand how to set a netmask or how to
configure a firewall. I need to understand those concepts and i do refer to
other sources to learn the missing knowledge.
