There are plenty of eminently more qualified conservatives around who would
never surprise anyone, and that's the problem.  If Miers goes wrong, I for
one will never again buy into the "aw shucks I guess we made a boo boo
routine" the way we did when Bush 1 screwed us over big time with
Souter.

To steal a phrase to help indicate how strongly I feel about this.   "NEVER
AGAIN".
