I agree with this. I made a comment in a prior post that given the
differences of how a career affects women, especially one as demanding of
one's time as her career path, that it could be just as you say.

Well that would be the personality dysfunction part I mentioned as an alternative.

Yeah but how many female jewish lawyers have you met that were
conservative? It was the thought of that particular combination of traits
that had me worried at the time. Of course we know now that she isn't
jewish, but the fact that they keep touting how she is a devout evangelical
christian so wink wink she's ok doesn't do it for me. She could easily be
the kind of person who compartmentalizes things and could be another Souter
while still going to her evangelical church. My only test is how she votes
if approved, and if she doesn't vote with Scalia virtually all the time,
then I will never vote Republican again. We conservatives have defended
the GOP and Bush on a lot of stuff and hung in there through thick and thin
to get to this point in history, if they stab us in the back I would rather
see the GOP destroyed than to take it up the tail pipe with another Souter.
Even if that means democrats with people and policies I hate come to power
for the next 15 years or more. Its just that important, and the GOP and
the Senators voting on this need to realize just how much they are betting
should Bush's trust me line turn out to be a mistake, an error, or a lie.
