Here's the problem they face. In 1974 we had a similar situation where a
shortage, a created shortage, caused prices to rise. So the gov slapped on
a "winfall profits tax" so the oil companies wouldn't raise the
price. The result was no gas at many gas stations.

Price has to go up to keep from running out during a shortage. They have to
wait till things return to some sense of normal before they can start
really tagging the bastards who caused it.
