Taking hostages......Embassies are always in the fun position that the
locals can suddenly break diplomatic relations & then give the embassy
staff a very short time to get out as "your dip status expires in 5
minutes" etc.

Most have "security officers" one of whose jobs (in an
area/country where this might happen) is to plan for evacuating a group of
"no longer diplomats".
