Paul, at 07:29 on Jul 08 1996, you wrote to All... PS> After the untimly death of my beloved Supra 28.8k V.FC, I am in the market PS> for a new modem for my BBS. Handles all V.n protocols plus HST, and has the major advantage of flash-ROM upgradeability. Can be had for ~$500 now too. PS> USR Sportster (33.6k) There are no Austel approved V.34+ Sportsters, if that's an issue. Also, the current model has dodgy BTLZ, just like the Dynalink rebadge. PS> Dynalink (33.6k) Too flaky for BBS use, especially with its broken BTLZ compression. Presumably you know that these are only available as internal modems ? PS> Anyne have experience with any of the above modems ? Yep, I've owned both V.34+ Couriers and V.34+ Sportsters (the far more reliable 21.6MHz version), and have had no complaints whatsoever with any of them. PS> Whatever I get *needs* to be able to handle some rather suspect line PS> conditions (to/from Europe mainly) My Courier works extremely well with ISD calls to the USA, but I can't comment on Europe at all, as I've never had occasion to call there.
