The Cambell I'm thinking of was a philospher. He had more than a few PBS 
shows.  Probably his main work was _The Hero with a Thousand Faces_.

The Director's Cut is at least passable.  The orginal version sucked, 
big time.

I read the book long before I saw the movie.  That's why I was so
disappointed in them.  Everything was there except the plot!  As 
per Star Wars, the Bene Gesserit were the equivalent of the Jedi, though 
often better looking.  :)
