YOu might be right, was thinking JOseph W. but might have
been JOhn.  Remember the arguments in sci fi mag editors and publishers re
the two schools of thought.  tHe Campbellian
school was that all aliens must be humanoid, and then there
were the guys such as edward e. (doc) SMith, Poul Anderson,
others.   I always saw the anti-Campbell camp as being more
realistic .

Agreed, just not as well done as the masters.  YOu really
want to get into some great flash bang space opera try dOc
SMith.  tHe LEnsman series, the sKylark series, etc.  NOw
there was a lot of flashbang for ya .
