tHe CAmpbellian school of science fiction was essentially
that all the alien races encountered in the travels of
whatever intrepid explorers were the main characters must be humanoid in
appearance. IT had to be human in basic form if it was intelligent.

Iirc it predated the DUne movie, and didn't even care for
the first one that much.
AS for the DUne movie, don't waste your time, read the
series.
