BTW humorously,
"He stressed repeatedly that the preparations were not of a nature
that signified the Iranians and its allies were expecting an attack by
Israel."
Which is almost certainly true. Given a US presence in Iraq & Saudi
AWACS, the Israelis are out of range by conventional bombers as one would
hope they'd have to get through a USAF intent upon protecting Iraqi
sovereign airspace.
M'self I think people should back down before people get hurt.
& there is really no upside to mil events.
So it's a US devoid of all help (assuming it will not let Iraqi sovereignty
be breached).
Possibly if Turkey wished to join in it could allow passage of Israeli jets
but otherwise......& this seems unlikely as for one thing it would
cause a Perso-Turkic war which no-one could predict the outcome of.
An interesting opinion none the less.
In part because while Israel would not be able to hit Iran, they may get
into a Lebano-Syrian scrap.
Which would then become Arab-Israeli in nature & who knows where that might end?
& if as a joint action against the "forces of evil" how would photos of
US & Israeli troops shaking hands on the banks of the Barada go down?
Esp say in Cairo?
