I had the priviledge of working with dozens of reporters in the IT industry
in the 1980s and 1990s.  None were morons.

Now subeditors - that's a different issue.  I once had a female journalist
sitting in a pub in floods of tears because the perfectly accurate story
she'd written was barely recognisable as published.  The version in the
paper was just such complete bollocks. She showed me her notebook and copy,
which is somethingthey normally never do.
