I'm kind of looking for both a server AND a client.   For clarification...I've
got a Squeezebox Boom box, and I've got the remote control from one of their
older "Duet" combos.  Works great, if you can keep the stupid logitech media
server running between updates....but I give up on that.

Right now I've got an Rpi running Rune Audio, which is basically Arch Linux
running MPD.  For a remote control I've got my android phone that can use
either the many MPD remotes, or the Rune Audio one.

The nice thing about the Logitech/Squeeze system was it was nicely integrated,
with alarm clocks and other things.  The MPD-based stuff doesn't go that far. 
But I think it is more flexible in the long run.
