 1. Please press the D/V button and turn on the Elite 2864 to do a hardware
    reset on the modem and have the modem load in the factory default
    settings and run a power on self-test at 57600 bps DTE speed and
    28800 bps DCE speed.
 2. Please use ATI1 to check the modem's version. Firmware version 0.xx is
    used for á-test. If the a date code is displayed, the version is prior to
    0.01 or it is just a temporary test version. The formal commercial
    version will start from version 1.00.
 3. If the date code is prior to 5/15/95, please use ATUPX or ATUPA to update
    the firmware to version 0.01. The firmware file is E2864.001. Refer
    to chapter 3 of the 2864 series modem user's manual for procedures of
    updating the firmware.

 5. For fax printing feature, please refer to 2864 series modem user's
anual.
    Be sure to issue "AT+FZT" command to test your printer speed. The
    modem will adjust scan line time to fit your printer speed, and
    this speed parameter will be saved in non-volatile memory. You don't
    have to issue "AT+FZT" command again when you turn on the modem
    next time.
 6. Please refer to the chapter 4 of "2864 SERIES MODEM USER'S MANUAL"
    for the new VOICE features.
 7. The +VGT and +VGR command is ranged from 56 to 200 where the
    number means a GAIN from -36dB to +36dB in 0.5dB steps.
    ( 56=-36dB, 128=0dB and 200=+36dB)
    A value of 0 will make the modem to do "Automatic Gain control".
 8. The +VTD command is revised to :
        AT+VTD=,
    where set the tone generation duration and set
    the interval for every comma in the +VTS command.
    the units are 10msec and the default vale for is 50
    and  is 7.
 9. The +VDD command is revised to :

             Release Note on Elite 2864 Version 0.02 May 23, 1995
 1. Please use "ATUPX" command and select X-Modem protocol to upload file
    E2864.002 to update your modem firmware.
 2. Distinctive ring is implemented.
 3. EDR is implemented. There are lots of differences compared with the
1496
    series EDR. The major improvement is: all DTMF tones, Fax calling tone,
    and Data calling tone can be detected.
    The S51 register is used to define the EDR setting as:
        bits 0-1:
                0 0 - Disable EDR.
                0 1 - Report ring for 2 times.
                1 0 - Report ring for 4 times.
                1 1 - Report ring for 6 times.
        bits 2-3:
                0 0 - Disable DTMF tone detection.
                0 1 - Report "RING" for any DTMF tones.
                1 0 - Report "RING " for any DTMF tones.
                1 1 - Reserved.
        bits 4-5:
                0 0 - Disable FAX CNG tone detection.
                0 1 - Report "RING" for FAX CNG tone.
                1 0 - Report "RING 1" for FAX CNG tone.
                1 1 - Report "RING 2" for FAX CNG tone.
        bits 6-7:
                0 0 - Disable Data CNG tone detection.
                0 1 - Report "RING" for Data CNG tone.
                1 0 - Report "RING 1" for Data CNG tone.
                1 1 - Report "RING 3" for Data CNG tone.
 4. Fax DRAM receiving (+FZF=3) function is implemented.
    Please use class 2/2.0 compatiable FAX S/W to retrieve stored FAX.
    Be sure to include +FCLASS=2 (or 2.0) in the FAX S/W initialization
    string when used to retrieve FAX out of DRAM.
    This version of F/W is only for beta test. Please do not use this
ersion
    to receive your important fax. It may lose FAX pages in some abnormal
    conditions.
 5. Add S register setting to select page size when printing FAX to a laser
    printer.
    S73 bits 4-5:
             0 0 - LETTER SIZE paper. (Default setting) (AT+FZS=0)
             0 1 - LEGAL size paper (AT+FZS=1)
             1 0 - A4 size paper (AT+FZS=2)
 6. Add one S register bit to select printer resolution.
    S73 bit 2:
            0 - 300dpi printer. (Default setting) (AT+FZR=0)
            1 - 150dpi printer. Speed up printing but sacrifice quality.
                Not recommended. (AT+FZR=1)
 7. Correct the FAX V.17 receiving problem.
 8. Correct false "Remote hangup" problem during V.42 handshaking.

    as follows:
        -18dB to -18dB :  56 to  200, with 0.25dB resolution.
 7. The default response of "AT+VLS" is "VCON" to be compatible with U1496.
The
    s48 bit 5 (s48.5) is used to enable the IS-101 command set in the future.

 3. For DRAM FAX receiving/stroring application, Add a S register bit to
enable
    printing FAX pages which have been retrieved by the connected computer's
    fax program.
    S71   bit  5:
               0 - Modem will not print stored fax pages which are unprinted
                   but already downloaded to a computer fax program.
               1 - Modem will print the above stated fax pages upon
instruction.
    Please add "s71.5=1" to the end of the initialization string of a CLASS-2
    program to enable this funtion.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
             Release Note on Elite 2864 Version 1.00 Jly 19, 1995
 1. Not finished functions but will be included in the near future:
     * Remote configuration
     * Password check and call back security
 2. Known bugs but will be corrected in the near future:
     * cellular mode connection:
         Cell mode works fine between U1496 and Elite. Sometimes, it does not
         work between Elite and Elite.
     * In the on-line help, there are no descriptions of the commands ATN0-7
       and ATO1.
     * Setting s35=96 and then issuing at&w0 the profile protection function
       works correctly for the first time. For every later issued at&w0
       command, the modem will ask for the password but it will give an
"Error"
       response when the correct password is entered.
     * ATS0:
         If you give ATS0=3 or other values, very often the modem answers on
         the first ring.
     * ATS1:
         The S1 register does not collect the number of rings received.
     * ATS38:
         The command S38=32 (or S38.5=1) that disables MNP5 doesn't work.
     * connect message:
         When a V22bis connection is made, the modem displays a V22
connection.
 3. Fixed bugs in the version:
     * Caller ID:
         Caller ID works fine at 57.6K bps but it has problems at 115.2K bps.
         The problem is when one gets the caller name: xxxxxxxx but then the
caller
         nummber has garbage characters.
     * command *q3:
       when the line condition is bad the connection is not dropped.
