Hi Gail,
GS> Growing up in Wisconsin cheddar cheese was always served with apple
GS> pie, once I left the state people would give me strange looks when I
DD> I grew up in Illinois and it was much the same here. I didn't realize
DD> that people didn't put yellow cheese on their apple pie until I was in
GS> Maybe the cheese/apple pie is a midwest thing - I never knew anyone
GS> did that other than in Wisconsin.
I doubt it; my folks were born/raised in western New York and central
New Jersey and they did it. I suspect my dad taught my mom about it
(he's the NYer). I grew up with it, living in the Catskills. Steve was
born/raised in western NY but had never heard of it til he met me. We
like to have apple pie for breakfast--put a piece in a bowl, add milk
and nuke til warm enough for you. I usually throw a piece of sharp
cheddar in the bowl too.
GS> Lets see - I remember people shaking salt into a glass of beer - I
GS> guess to keep it fizzing - don't remember seeing that anywhere else
Never heard of that but have seen people put salt on watermelon and
sugar in soda. I don't do either.
Catch you later,
Ruth
