The white man's burden is a heavy load. What is more Iraq has crippled your
ability to make good on any of that as frankly right now you ain't the
hyperpower you were, you are more prometheus bound.
You can't really do anything about Iran because then the whole area from
the Hindu Kush to the Med might do up in flames, you can't do anything
about Darfur because it's a big Muslim place. You can't really push the
Israelis becuase they are "fellow travellers in the war on
terror" etc. The list goes on.
But old Georgie boy can make lovely speeches full of declaratory statements
& florid prose.

Meanwhile most of the world thinks he says one thing but does (or at least
achieves) something else.
