Yup; same here (middle-to-late 1970's). One could really scarf 
out! And one reached into that bin and got one's own cans of beer! 
The cool thing was they told you what everything was as you went 
down the line without prompting and as those of us inverite, iron- 
stomached panchos afficionados know, one just raised the little 
flag on the table and someone would get you more grub. Despite the 
groans of list members, it beat hell out of the hamburgers at the 
coffee shop at NMSU!
