Winmodem uses VxD (at least the USR version), and thus can't be used for
NT... My external modem is ALSO PnP... it is PnP since the day they
invented it. no IRQ fiddling, or port address searching...
IMO, Winmodem is mostly designed to sucker those people who just want to
get the cheapest model from a "name brand"... I'd recommand ZOOM modem
over any Winmodem, or pretty much any dirt cheap Rockwell modem over
Winmodem, for about the same price... why not get something that's NOT
virtual... get REAL not VIRTUAL... :)
RG> I got my Winmodem from USR in the Wide Area Field Trial test for free.
RG> It now runs happily as a clam at 33.6, accepts & recieves faxes with

RG> program...but you know this. Now maybe Clint does.
Well... since you use the USR Winmodem... you should KNOW that it will NOT
work under NT... so as a lot of people here had said... it should be named.
WinButNotNTOS/2BSDDOSOrLinuxModem.... :)
