subject: Getting Rid of XP Boot Menu

I was attempting to install ubuntu on an XP machine. I misunderstood and
thought there was a way to install ubuntu in such a way that the user would
not have to restart the machine to get into ubuntu (i.e. they'd be able to
start ubuntu from within windows).

However, this was not the case. The user still had to reboot, and was
presented with the Windows boot menu, asking if they wanted XP or ubuntu.

Since there was ample extra disk space anyway, I decided to install ubuntu
in its own partition (the correct way). So, this added grub to the mbr,
and it has the options of booting into ubuntu or XP.

However, uninstalling
the original ubuntu install did not remove the Windows boot menu entry.
So now, when the user chooses XP from grub, the are again presented with
another menu (the Windows one) asking again which OS they want. Since the
ubuntu install it is pointed to doesn't reside there anymore anyway, this
is more than redundant.

So, how does one remove the Windows boot menu? I knew how on the 9x
versions, but can't find the darn thing anywhere (or any documentation of
its existence in XP help). Thanks!

Mike
