subject: Sysop vs. Admin/Sysadmin/etc.

Hi all -

One thing that occurred to me recently was that system administrators and BBS
sysops do very similar things, even though we use different terminology to
refer to them. That got me thinking: What is the difference between the terms
"sysop" and "system administrator"? Both terms refer
to someone who maintains
systems and computer services to ensure that people can access them, as well as
handles upgrades and such. I'm not really sure why it is that the term
"sysop"
isn't usually applied to a system administrator and vice versa.
