KP> I beg your pardon. I commute to work, church, and shops by bicycles
KP> NOT to save money or because I can't afford a car (I have a car, thank
KP> you). I ride a bicycle as my primary and preferred mode of
KP> transportation because
KP> 1. It is an environmentally gentle way to get from place to place.
KP> 2. It is powered by renewable energy sources.
KP> 3. It is a healthy way to get from place to place.
KP> 4. It is more pleasant.
KP> Frankly, I think what YOU describe as "serious cyclists" are children
KP> who like to play with their toys.
Roger on that. Some of these guys who call themselves serious cyclists
sound like overgrown children with too much money to spend. Then there
are those of us who are serious enough in our intent, but low on Finances,
abilities, or know how. My old Trek 850 is getting a little old and
needs to be taken in to the shop for rejuvenation. Just can't seem to
scrape together the amount of money needed. Being a retiree on a fixed
income and below the poverty level doesn't help. Then too, I've been
burned by a Bike Shop that was manned by unscrupulous personnel and
got taken to the cleaners and still didn't get the work done right.
What are your thoughts on this sort of thing?
