Ending the wars would be one of the big factors in balancing the
budget. But I doubt Ron Paul would actually do much good on
anything.
The NY Times has an interactive page that lets you work through
all the major proposals, and gives the CBO figures on how much
they will save. Just pick yours and see what helps balance the
budget. All done online interactively.

I balanced the budget by 2015 without touching medical care or
social security or adding carbon taxes or the 5% sales tax they
are talking about. I balance the budget for 2030 by adding in
the carbon tax and the 5% sales tax, but I don't like those.
Again, I am not all that thrilled with 20 years ahead budgeting.
Can't tell what happens.
Now I want a way to figure in 5% real unemployment, and see what
that does.
