| subject: | Re: MeToo Children`s Program |
I have (again) updated the MeToo! program. New versions are now up for download at: http://www.clipshop.ca/DiskImages/metoo.zip Click on the following links to read the updated user documentation in pdf format complete with screenshots: English http://www.clipshop.ca/DiskImages/MeToo.pdf French http://www.clipshop.ca/DiskImages/MoiAussi.pdf I found and fixed some annoying bugs and you should replace previous versions with this one. The bug fixes all had to do with the newly-added mouse routines. If anyone has the time to test this on a real Apple //e and give me some feedback that would be great! All screens should be working just fine now with either mouse or keyboard. The other change that I have made is to add a musical animation sequence to the opening screens. This is reflected in the updated documentation and is the result of a perfectly delightful accident that occurred while rummaging-around in my old stuff. I located the Apple prototype for this program from February 1993 including the source code. I thought this was lost forever. After reviewing the old version and running it to determine if anything could be improved in my latest rewrite, I decided that the opening screen's animation sequence would be fun to add. The MS-DOS version has the same animation, and I simply have never taken time with my latest Apple rewrites to add this because I considered it too much work to rewrite. There were one or two other enhancements that I could have made to the new Apple version, such as adding a cartoon mouse cursor, but doing so would likely have slowed down the program and made the screens flicker so I rejected making this particular change. I doubt if I can improve MeToo! much beyond the latest version for download. I am well into a Children's Math program for the Apple II based on my MS-DOS program "BINGO The Number Dog" and the MeToo! program gives me a very good format for the new BINGO program so you can expect to hear more about BINGO and less about MeToo! in the days ahead.
