Not to briefly re-open it, but there was a discussion about
monitor-destroying viruses here recently, and I would have to say that with
the proper program, it *IS* possible to purposefully destroy a monitor by
attenuating the refresh rate (via text-mode graphics-mode text-mode
graphics-mode rapid changes). It is possible, and I've personally ruined a
monitor by improperly setting the refresh rate, and toggling from Windows to
DOS to change the colors. A new Princeton monitor with an ATI card.
If someone could write a virus that would query the video card, and
then do the same thing, it *WOULD* break the monitor...
