I haven't had any problems with viruses since installing IBM Antivirus,
a version of which comes with PC DOS 7.0. I've updated to 2.5.1 which
includes a floppy disk boot sector check every time a new floppy is
logged onto for any reason. This and its shield have so far prevented
any viruses from being loaded onto the system. Both Junkie and Ripper
have been identified so far.

There are programs about which will only run with a specific version of
MS-DOS. BAT-UTIL comes to mind as one such. I had a version once which
would only run with 3.3 and would not run with MS-DOS 5.0. Only thing to
do with such programs is ditch them when you upgrade your DOS.

I'm using the Stacker on my 286 and it works fine. Compression is not as
good as Stacker 4.0 but is more than adequate for my purposes. With
Stacker 4.0 I have had to tell GEOS about the Stacker drive before it
would operate (i.e. make an entry in GEOS.INI). With OpenDOS I didn't.
