Reversing phase on one channel can be done to allow bridging of an amp.  It 
could also be useful in large installations if phasing needs to be reversed 
to correct for other problems -- much easier to flip a switch than to reverse 
speaker connections.
 KP> Is there any consumer hi-fi stuff that corrects it automatically?
How would the amp "know" if the speakers were wired correctly?
