Thanks!  There was actually a samba setting that I was able to change which
allowed the Win9x box to access the shares:
 
client lanman auth = Yes
lanman auth = Yes
 
Actually, I am not sure the first one is necessary (or even does anything),
but that was how I found it when I goggled the problem.  The page I found
it on said to only do this if necessary as it does relax the security on
samba.
 
Now if I could only get the OS/2 box to recognize the samba server again. ;)
