Hello Charles!

Replying to a message of Charles Angelich to Bob Stout:

 >>> I'm not entirely sure about perl ... I write about 90% of my

CA> It appears to me that CPAN _sells_ code. That doesn't fall into
CA> the category of 'sharing' the way I use the word.

Where the heck do you get THAT idea? CPAN is completely free. Are you
looking at www.cpan.org (not .com or .net or something else)?

CA> Lately it seems more are selling their PERL and PHP code, even
CA> just short pieces (snippets) of code and/or offering to host it
CA> for those using freeservers or other ISPs who are not allowed
CA> to install server-side apps. What is out there that is free has
CA> been out there for some _years_ now. New stuff generally seems
 CA> to be for sale.

[ for the humour-impaired, that's me. ]

CA> As such, I can only predict that users of either a PERL or PHP
CA> forum will be hawking thier wares in various ways or looking
CA> for contract work and that there will be little 'sharing' going
CA> on. I suppose that type of forum has it's uses for some but I
 CA> wouldn't host it on a not-for-profit website myself.

Unfortunately, my opinion of your knowledge has not decreased any by this
blatant display of unknowledge.

Darin
