subject: Multiple carriers (3 or more)

How does a certain area provide more than 3 carriers? I thought you
only can have a A side carrier and a B side carrier. Even if you
change your SID# you still get whatever carrier's side your on *611
will get you their informatino, not any other companies. I wonder
about this because we have 2 carriers, A side is Cellular one, and
B side is GTE mobilnet. But somehow we now have Nextel service,
they say they have their own cell sites nation wide, so they don't
charge roaming fees, but how do they do this? I heard they use
Motorola Digital phones (so I'm guessing TDMA like a MIcro tac lite
digital ors omething) so how do they operate with 2 carriers already?
... The greater the ignorance the greater the dogmatism.
