| subject: | Re: Fallback limits |
Once apon a time David Drummond said, 'Re: Fallback limits' to Con Aidonidis... CA> i wanted to know if anyone knows about the modem brand CA> "X-LINK" and if they are any good because i currently have CA> an x-link 28.8 internal and hardly every get above 21600bps CA> and i dunno what it could be............. I just played around with an XLink 288i, 28.8K V34/VFC internal today, and considering it seems to be a cheap taiwaneese modem, on a typical good phoneline I was getting solid 28880/V42BIS connections everywhere I tried, including toll calls..overall I couldnt fault it.. DD> Shitty phone lines? Perhaps you should get cable . . . I then tried it on my really shitty phone line at home (Telecom are going to get a ring soon :-) and the best I could manage was 21600 with exactly the same setup.... So you may have a poor phone line too... Regards, Simon ...
