What you may have to do is see if the older pilots will provide the advice
and wisdom if you offer to do the labor. Let them know you want to learn
how to do these things so the club can have more of them. That should get
their cooperation for a couple of events so you can learn then take over.
Ideas are limited only by imagination and the willingness of someone to try
it.

Hard to say why. Perhaps just bluntly asking the question "does anyone give
a hoot about having any club activities such as fun flies?" The core sounds
small and they may not have accepted the idea that you are a permanent
member. They see the same group year after year and others that come and go
and figure many of you will go soon. They may not realize that they are
part of the reason. Some hard questions may have to be asked of these guys.

Let them know how you feel. Sound like they're in a rut and need someone to
get them out because they don't know they're even in it.
