CA> ok, 1 more time for the dummies, they are good and all, (33.6)
^^^^^^^ Dummies?? Dummies??
OK, one more time for _you_, moron. Let's just replay my message to
you... >
CA> the point that i am trying to make is that even though you
CA> have a 33.6k modem, is is most likely that the modem on the other
CA> end is a 28.8k and so you would only get 28.8k unless you know
CA> someone that has a 33.6k, then your in luck, i am not trying to say
CA> that 33.6k are no good, they are legendary, but the hard fact is
CA> that harldy anyone has got them, and if we give them time to
CA> expand, well 6 months is the time for them as in 6 months cable
This a fact?? *Everyone* will be able to use cable modems in 6 months??
Every house will have access to cable in 6 months?? And more to the
point, everyone will be able to afford them??
CA> modems are gonna be unleashed and are capable of doing 1 or 2
CA> meg per second................................ -con
Not quite at the same price as a 33.6 modem tho'. >
Now, you tell me where I mentioned anything about the difference in
33.6 vs 28.8 throughputs? You babbled on about the fact that 33.6
modems will be virtually useless in 6 months, and I replied as above.
_Now_, please answer my reply and don't put words in my mouth, as I am
quite able to do so without any crap from you.
CA> but if u think about it, lets just say that you get a perfect
CA> connection at 33.6k, out of 1 meg which usually takes a 28.8k maybe
CA> 5 min may take 4.5min for a 33.6k, now is it really worth it for
CA> such a short time diff????
You obviously failed in mathematics as well as tact. 33.6 transfers,
over 28.8 transfers, are greater than your purported 11.1%. Now, lets
really work on some "real world" figures of 3850cps for a 33.6 against
3250cps for a 28.8 modem. (Using zipped files with error correction)
Keeping up here?? Now on my reckoning this should take around 5min23sec
for a 1Mb zipped file at 28.8 (3250cps). With 33.6 (3850cps) the same
file would take 4min32sec. Now transfer that same file at STD rates and
you have some idea on why they are worth it. More like 18.75%, hey.
BTW are you 14 y/o by any chance??
One other thing. Courtesy dictates that you at least post some of the
previous message so that the reciever knows about what you are speaking.
