subject: Portrait of a Sleazy Employer of Illegal Aliens

From: GeorgeWashingtonAdmirer

The law-flouting, quick-buck artist factory owner profiled below is
merely one of millions of "greed is good" business people across
the USA who for years have been raking in profits hand over fist at the
expense of their competitors and legal American workers.

Just as was the case after the Swift Corporation immigration raids in the
Midwest of a few months ago -- after the company's illegal alien employees
were apprehended literally HUNDREDS of U.S. citizens lined up (as per
newspaper reports, the line was literally several blocks long -- look it up
yourself!) -- after 361 illegal alien employees were apprehended at a New
England textile factory an even LARGER number of legal American workers
applied for the jobs vacated by the illegals.

It's really "the worker be damned" business owners such as the sleazebag
factory owner cited below whose interests phonies such as Bush and the
pro-amnesty U.S. Chamber of Commerce are looking out for, not any laughable
concern for "good-hearted workers" who illegally snuck into the
U.S.

Anger over immigration mess is not just a Republican thing

By Froma Harrop

  New Bedford, Massachusetts ...

After the raid [which netted 361 illegal alien workers], 400 people
immediately applied for the openings.

Frank blasted the Defense Department for awarding more than $100 million
in contracts to Michael Bianco Inc., which, it appears, was flagrantly
employing illegal workers to sew military backpacks and other gear. Frank
also quoted a Michael Bianco competitor who called him after the raid,
saying, "Now I understand how they kept outbidding me."

... there is also widespread disgust at what was allegedly going on at
Michael Bianco and the lenient treatment of its owner, Francesco Insolia.

Where to start? The pay was minimum wage, no benefits. Employees said
that Insolia would fine them $20 if they used too much toilet paper or were
a minute late. He charged them 25 cents for a Tylenol. Heat was frequently
off in mid-winter, and the emergency back door chained.

Insolia worked all angles. Upon landing a fat defense contract in 2004,
he trotted to New Bedford City Hall for his special tax break. The city
agreed to forgive $80,000 in taxes over five years if he retained 65 jobs
and created 85 new ones, with preference given to "qualified New
Bedford residents."

Insolia himself lives in a posh Boston suburb and has a second home in
Palm Beach. The cost of providing services for his illegal workforce,
naturally, fell on the threadbare taxpayers of New Bedford ...

"How about a year in jail for every illegal immigrant you employ?" Lang
suggested. "That would drive them out real fast" ...

Insolia and his managers face felony charges, but unlike the illegals
being held in detention centers, they're out on the streets. A federal
judge even gave him permission to travel to Puerto Rico on business.

It doesn't matter what party you affiliate with: This is not a pretty
picture. And anger over the immigration mess is clearly not just an
Iowa-Republican thing.

¡$How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico¡"
By John Dillin
http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0706/p09s01-coop.html

Excerpt:

¡$General Eisenhower ... quoted a report in The New York Times,
highlighting one paragraph that said: ¡ØThe rise in illegal border-crossing
by Mexican 'wetbacks' to a current rate of more than 1,000,000 cases a year
has been accompanied by a curious relaxation in ethical standards extending
all the way from the farmer-exploiters of this contraband labor to the
highest levels of the Federal Government ..."

¡$Herbert Brownell Jr., Eisenhower's first attorney general, said the
president had a sense of urgency about illegal immigration when he took office.

¡$America ¡Øwas faced with a breakdown in law enforcement on a very large
scale,¡| Mr. Brownell said. ¡ØWhen I say large scale, I mean hundreds of
thousands were coming in from Mexico [every year] without
restraint.¡|"

"Unfortunately, the majority of illegal aliens who are here are
engaged in criminal activity. Identity theft, use of fraudulent Social
Security numbers and green cards, tax evasion, driving without licenses
represent some of the crimes that are engaged in by the majority of illegal
aliens on a daily basis merely to maintain and hide their illegal status.
In addition, violent crime and drug distribution and possession is also
prevalent among illegal aliens. Over 25% of today's federal prison
population are illegal aliens. In some areas of the country, 12% of
felonies, 25% of burglaries and 34% of thefts are committed by illegal
aliens."

Subcommittee on Immigration, Border, Security and Claims [Note: 99% of
warrants for murder in Los Angeles, California -- the USA's 2nd
most-populous city -- are for illegal aliens]

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless
minority keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."
