Yeah... It might even do less good. Statistically, the more people who are involved in 'securing' aircraft, the more vulnerable to attack the system becomes... A corollary then is that with less security, flying becomes cheaper, more people fly, and the chances of any individual meeting their end goes down :-) I find it staggering that anyone would consider the "illusion of safety" to have any value, sans the PR reps of airlines, and perhaps the odd insurance company...
