They gave her straight white teeth.  Her real teeth were yellowish and not
exactly crooked but a little uneven.

I'm not sure I consider it "compassionate", I think it's part of
a sort of Hollywoodization of the media, that everybody is supposed to look
like a movie star.  Guess what, real adults do not have perfectly white
teeth, and many people's teeth are not all exactly the same length -- why
should that be something that labels them as somehow "inferior"?
