That isn't just a slick description, its actually the only accurate
description of the process and his decision, imho.  Naturally, the morons
of the Media and most Senators describe it incorrectly as being either for
or against abortion.

It seems clear from his opinions in the abortion area that he scrupulously
followed Supreme Court precedent, as he is required, but in a situation
where there was no direct supreme court precedent then he looked to the
text of the constitution, and if there wasn't anything in the text that
said judges should make government policy about communications between
husband and wife on abortion matters, then it was something NOT for judges
to decide but reserved to the states and the people to decide through their
elected representatives in the State Legislature.
