Yes, Republicans have long accepted sleazy and illegal behavior that
furthered the conservative agenda.  Witness the rabid defense of Reagan
despite his blatant disregard for the Constitution in Iran/Contra, and the
current crop of Bush cheerleaders who seem willing to eat giant spoonfuls
of shit as long as there's a Republican on the other end of the spoon.
