Generally speaking, yes. Most compilers I have used, (not that
there are that many), have defaulted to debug mode, so you could
debug your code as well as compile it. Come to think of it, the
only one that didn't was MIX's Power C, but only because it needed
to be compiled manually, and did not have any IDE from which to
invoke the compiler and linker. I haven't used all that many of
the available compilers, but MSQC, MSVC, Borland 3.1, and the old
Symantec have all defaulted to debug mode from the IDE. If you
are creating your own make files and invoking the compiler and
linker manually, then that is a different story altogether.
