Subject: Braille Menus, Panchos, and more
Hello,
        I can not answer the question of which restaurants in New Orleans
have braille menus.  Furthermore, the restaurant guide does not have this
information in it.  I would venture to say few restaurants have braille
menus as i have only been offered them at three restaurants in New Orleans.
Two were national chains, and the third was last summer in the Hyatt.
Braille menus have not been discussed by the local chapter, to the best of
my knowledge.  Had I known I would have sent some favorites!
        No, Panchos is not listed in the restaurant guide.  It is still
thriving in Metairie, serving its dedicated clientele.  We tried to keep to
restaurants not in the suburbs, unless they are of notable worth.  Truth be
told though, I just do not like Panchos.  I do not even think I could send
someone I did not like there.  Out of fairness and a little guilt, Here it

This mexican buffet is for the big, iron stomached among us.  Put a flag up
to signal to the waitstaff you need even more food.  Cash, credit and local
checks.
        The guide can tell you where to get a good meal in any price range.
It includes enough information for a first timer to eat really well for the
week without repeating a stopp.  It does not cover every restaurant's
payment options.  All really expensive restaurants take credit, but a few
local haunts do not.  I know Mesparo's, does not for instance, most cash
only places are designated as such.  Call before you venture out, if going
to a local favorite.  Do not be daunted though, most restaurants recognize
carrying much cash is not desirable, and accept all credit cards even some I
have never heard of! 
        If you are going on the Global Wildlife tour, you are in for a real
treat!  Went there today...  I fed animals cup after cup of corn.  Petted
strange things like giraffe, zebras, and llamas!  Even had the opportunity
to feed a wildebeast!  Patted the head of a buffalo, it was like steel wool.
Much fun to be had out there!
