I really have no intention on going to a newer version of WWIV. I took one
large jump over the years running WWIV. I don't remember what year it was,
but I had a highly modded WWIV 4.12 and it took me forever to take the leap
to 4.24a. I only did it because there were loads of new options that I was
missing, plus everyone was writing mods for 4.24. It took me along time to
build this highly customized 4.24a. I still have the compiler and source
if I wanted to do stuff with it, but would have to run it under an XP VM -
since it won't work on a 64-bit OS.

I remember running a utililty on mine years ago that stripped all strings
out of the source and made them external to save on dgroup.

One thing I would like, is to make WWIVEDIT along with most of the door
games more multi-tasker aware. They tend to max the CPU on my VM when
running.
