I'm not really demanding scholarly standards for a newsgroup posting, however, it seems you revisit your ideas about evolution having a direction when given an opportunity. If you're that interested in the issue, how about reading just a small amount on what evolution is, and how it works. Re Newton: I imagine he did a bunch of thinking and research before writing much. In case you feel like an analogy, the Intelligent Design method to find a way through a maze would be to use your omnipotent powers to deduce the best path. Q: "How did you figure out the way?". A: "The ID did it". The evolutionary method to find a way through a maze would be to send a stream of ants into the entrance. At every junction, some ants would go left, and some would go right. Eventually (given a reasonable kind of maze), some ants would emerge at the exit. They win. All the other ants lose. That's evolution - try all possible, small alternatives from your present position, then select the one that's best. Actually, my ants are not really a good analogy because evolution chooses the best from each possible SMALL step, not the best set of overall steps. That's why many defects in human design are apparent (e.g. before modern medicine, many mothers would die during childbirth due to the large heads of their babies).
